                                                         A Brief History of San Roque NHS

 

                                                                                          After more than three years of waiting - the constituents of Barangay San  Roque has the                                                                                                     valueof seeing their children go through high school  free.

 

                                                                                           Way back 1998, Antipolo has two existing publich high school, Antipolo  National High                                                                                                        School in Cogeo Barangay Sta. Cruz and Maximo Gatlabayan Memorial National High School in                                                                                          Paenaan.

 

                                                                                          With the concentrated efforts of the City Council and late Miss Melinda D. Gedang, principal                                                                                               in ANHS, High Schools for each Barangay were slowly put   upto make education in secondary                                                                                           schools accessible to poor students.

 

               San Roque National High School formally opened in early days of September 2007. Its first clientele was the first year and second year students of Rolluqui and Reyes, an annex school of Antipolo National High School, the mother school of 18 public schools in Antipolo at present.

 

              The four storey -six classfruit of labor and love of the room building is the City Officials in the person of former Angelito C. Gatlabayan and the DepEd Division of Antipolo Official headed by Dr. Aurea F. Sto. Domingo.

 

The school is strategically located along Marigman road just a few blocks away from the circumferential  road which makes it more accessible to student of the barangay.

 

  On the first year of operation- the school was headed by Ms. Marilyn D. Zapanta  with more than 900 freshmen and 70 sophomorestudent and a total of 37 faculty members  and 3 maintenance men.

 

               The school boasts of its large ground and spacious classroom which can accommodate 70 students of the most. It has 11 classrooms, a faculty room for the mentors, a library with wide array of reference books, textbook and other learning aid, a computer with 20 computer all internet capable, a  guidance office located on the third floor and large canteen that offers delicious and nutrient food. To answer the personal needs of the student, a comfort room with three cubicles for boys and girls is located at the first floor and third floor. Safety is not a problem as the barangay official keeps a close watch over the students during  school days to see to it that the student will be home safe and sound.

 

                    The school  has two shift- one is the morning for the first year and another in the afternoon for the  second year. In line with the division of former City Mayor Angelico C. Gatlabayan and Deped Division of Antipolo Official, of the total eradication of illiteracy the school has put several programs to be implemented this school year 2008-2009.

 

                    Total independence from its mother school was finally acquired last June 18, 2008, barely eight months after it was handed to the Rolluqui and Reyes students and faculty.

 

                    At present the san roque national high school still maintain its vision of bringing up an educated morally upright and god fearing individual, capable and pit to face the challenges of 20th century.
